Solar reflection of light dark matter with heavy mediators

The direct detection of sub-GeV dark matter particles is hampered by their low energy deposits. If the maximum deposit allowed kinematics falls below threshold a experiment, it unable to detect these light particles. Mechanisms that boost from galactic halo can therefore extend sensitivity terrestrial searches lower masses. Sub-GeV and sub-MeV be efficiently accelerated colliding with thermal nuclei electrons solar plasma respectively. This process called 'solar reflection'. In this paper, we present comprehensive study reflection via electron and/or nuclear scatterings using Monte Carlo simulations trajectories through Sun. We properties boosted particles, obtain exclusion limits based on various experiments probing both recoils, derive projections for future detectors. addition, find quantify novel, distinct annual modulation signature potential signal which critically depends anisotropies flux ejected Along also publish corresponding research software.
